Welcome to St. Paul's United Methodist Church

Unison Prayer

O God, we give thanks for your love,
You have claimed us as your own,
     and called us to do your work.
Be with us as we offer
     healing to those who hurt;
     welcome for the lost;
     a home for the searching. Amen

What's in Jesus' Wallet June 28, 2009

“Spaghetti Jimmy” is a three or four year old who currently stars in a TV commercial for Capital One Credit Card.  Capital One has come up with yet another way to make credit cards attractive.  You can upload a personal picture to be placed on the card so everyone can have a personalized card.    The mother has chosen a picture of the younger “Jimmy” in his high chair with spaghetti in his hair.  The older Jimmy is not pleased with this selection to grace mother’s credit card.  “Jimmy” is portrayed in his high chair, his face and hair covered with spaghetti.  “Spaghetti Jimmy” is grinning.  No wonder she chose that picture.  She captured one of those moments that will bring smiles for years to come.  It is a keeper!    In the commercial “Spaghetti Jimmy” asks “What’s in your wallet”?  ...  ... First century citizens in all likelihood did not carry purses or wallets with anything like what we carry 2000 years later.  But if they did, and if we saw what was in Jesus’ wallet, what would we find? ...
