Margaret Gillikin – Lead Pastor

Sami Pack-Toner – Associate Pastor

I grew up in Sheridan, Montana and attended college in Great Falls. After graduation, I continued to live in Great Falls and work at a gymnastics academy while exploring a call to ministry. I also attended the Walk to Emmaus  in Helena. A year later, I found myself packed up and moving to North Carolina to attend Duke Divinity School for seminary. Over those three years, I worked in different churches as an intern, lifeguarded on campus, and continued to work toward ordination. I was appointed to Choteau and Pendroy UMCs following graduation and moved back to Montana.
While serving Choteau, I met Shane, got involved with golf league, and a workout group. We started some new outreach ministries, read lots of books, and watched a lot of TED Talks during my time in Choteau. One of our goals was to begin conversation about topics that we usually avoid at church. By creating a safe space, we all learned more about ourselves and connected with others over generational lines.
Shane and I were married in May 2016, and we live a pretty adventurous life. We enjoy hiking and dirt biking, golfing and skiing. We are excited to get settled here in Helena and find more adventures! I am excited to begin a new chapter in my ministry here with the community of Helena and continue to create safe space for people to experience God.
Anna Viehland – Associate Pastor

I grew up in Florida and became a Christian in my late teens. While attending Florida State University, I felt compelled to help others experience the same life-changing, unconditional love of God and began pursuing my call to ordained ministry. I attended Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC before returning to Florida to serve as a pastor in 2017.

While in seminary, I met my husband Daniel, who is also a pastor. We were married in May 2019 and after years of listening to him gush about his beloved state, I made the trek from the Miami area to Big Sky country. I’m grateful to be here in my new home and even more grateful for the opportunity to serve with HUMM.

I’m most passionate about pastoral care, justice, children and family ministries, and worship. In my spare time, I love to read, write, sing and do just about anything in the arts. Daniel and I are frequent travelers and he is excited to show me all the beauty Montana has to offer. I’m also an animal lover and enjoy spending time with our pets–a border collie mix named Auggie and two cats, Henry and Marilla.

Rev. Kelly J. Sloan – Coordinator of Children’s Ministry

Kelly was ordained into the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) that same year at St. John’s Lutheran in Helena. She served 8 Lutheran congregations in eastern Montana for 9 years. Since 2000, Kelly has focused her energy and intellect in the field of children’s mental and behavioral health. Kelly and Jim share many adventures together, including building a house from the bare ground up, mountain and road biking, back country skiing, playing in a recreational hockey league, kayaking and building projects around home. In the past, Kelly has skied to the North Pole, trekked to Machu Pichu, hiked the Great Wall in China and participated in whale migration studies.
