Our Beliefs

At St Paul’s UMC we believe...

  • All people are of sacred worth, created in the Divine image.

  • All people are loved by God and welcomed by Jesus. Accordingly, we joyfully receive people of all ages, races, abilities, backgrounds, sexual orientations, and cultural and gender identities into our community of faith.

  • YOU and your chosen family are welcome here... exactly as you are.

  • Jesus' Greatest Commandment calls us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

We support applying these beliefs to our lives through:

  • Broad-based theological teaching with a distinctively Wesleyan emphasis. Questions are welcome and engaged through group dialogue.

  • "Thinking" faith is cultivated by routinely employing the lenses of scripture, tradition, reason, and experience in preaching and teaching.

  • Experiences of the Divine in vibrant worship, retreats like the Walk to Emmaus, camping ministries, and celebration of Montana's outdoor gifts.

  • Spiritual formation and faith education for all ages grounded in the Mainline Protestant social justice tradition.

  • Hands-on service opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally through partnerships with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, YWCA, and UMCOR.

  • Community-building through shared meals, post-worship hospitality, small group gatherings, pastoral care, and other social activities.

  • Extending hospitality to our neighbors without homes through our Tuesday Showers ministry and robust partnership with local service agencies.
